Actor James Earl Jones has passed away at age 93. Jones arguably had one of the most recognizable voices in Hollywood. He was the voice of Darth Vader in multiple movies in the Star Wars franchise and Mufasa in Disney’s original Lion King. James is on the short list of EGOT winners, having won 2 Emmys, a Grammy, an Honorary Oscar, and 3 Tony Awards. On the big screen had tons of memorable roles in classics like “Field of Dreams,” “Conan the Barbarian,” “Coming to America,” “The Sandlot,” and 2 Jack Ryan flicks … “The Hunt for Red October” and “Patriot Games.”. He also had prominent theater roles in 1969’s “The Great White Hope” and 1987’s “Fences.”. In addition to his brilliant acting career, James was a United States Army veteran who served in the 75th Rangers Regiment.

Neighbors and old friends had many good things to say about Jones. One of Jones’ old neighbors remembered his neighbor kindly in an obituary published by Mid Hudson News. “Yes, he was a celebrity, but he was the most genuine person you would ever want to meet. There was nothing phony about the man,” Pawling native Dave Gamache told the outlet. “He loved Pawling, he really loved Pawling, and he loved the people. He was active in the community.” Despite his star status, Gamache adds, he was “just as nice and wonderful and kind a person as he was as a person at the top of his profession.” Rest in Peace, James; you will be missed by many.
