Bill Gates opened up about his divorce from his ex-wife Melinda and where they stand now.
The 69-year-old businessman and his philanthropist wife separated in May 2021. They finalized their divorce that August.
In a new interview, Bill described the relationship’s demise as “the mistake I most regret.”

During a conversation with The Sunday Times, Bill was asked if his divorce was his only mistake in life.
“You would have to put that at the top of the list. There are others but none that matter,” he replied. “The divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.”
About their relationship, he said, “When Melinda and I met, I was fairly successful but not ridiculously successful — that came during the time that we were together. So, she saw me through a lot. When we got divorced, it was tough and then she made the decision to leave the foundation — I was disappointed that she took the option to go off.”
In July 2021, it was announced that Melinda would leave the foundation that they formed together if they weren’t able to collaborate anymore.
Despite their marriage ending, Bill made it clear that they are on good terms now.
“Melinda and I still see each other — we have three kids and two grandchildren, so there are family events. The kids are doing well. They have good values,” he said.
